Payroll
Pay periods, payroll runs, review status, warnings, approval, and final totals are managed here.
Payroll runs
Verifying trusted company access…
Payroll records are not requested until authentication and company access are resolved.
Payroll workflow readiness
Gross-pay engine
Regular and overtime gross-pay calculations are covered by automated unit tests, including fractional hours and invalid numeric input.
Payroll records
Payroll-run, payroll-entry, paycheck, deduction, benefit, and tax-oriented data structures exist.
Immutability rules
Completed payroll and paycheck deletion protections are verified in the Firebase emulator.
2026 federal + South Carolina tax engine
Federal Percentage Method withholding, Social Security, Medicare, Additional Medicare, and South Carolina withholding are implemented from official 2026 government formulas.
Tax expansion
FUTA, employer-specific unemployment taxes, other states, local taxes, deposits, and filing calculations remain intentionally unimplemented until their official rules and required employer facts are wired in.
Development sandbox
Payroll calculation preview
These calculators exercise the payroll engine only. They do not save records or issue checks. The tax preview is limited to the implemented 2026 federal and South Carolina rules.
Salaried employee
Gross pay this period
$4,583.34
12 pay periods per year
Hourly employee
Gross pay
$950.00
40.00 regular / 5.00 overtime hours
The sandbox uses a 1.5× overtime multiplier for demonstration. The threshold is entered explicitly so payroll policy can later come from company/jurisdiction configuration instead of being hidden in the UI.
2026 federal + South Carolina tax preview
For this development preview, the entered amount is used as the federal, South Carolina, Social Security, and Medicare wage base. Production payroll will pass each tax wage base separately after applicable pre-tax deductions are classified.
Federal
$418.33
Social Security
$310.00
Medicare
$72.50
South Carolina
$190.33
Employee taxes
$991.16
After these taxes
$4,008.84
YTD Social Security and Medicare wages are zero in this preview, so wage-base and Additional Medicare threshold behavior is covered by automated engine tests rather than this simplified UI.
